GLAMEGO SEPTEMBER 2018

“If we may make a suggestion, Glamego if you really need to send ‘repeat products’ please do give us an option to choose from a range of products so that we may pick and choose the product we’d like another tube/jar of.” This is from our post reviewing the August GlamEgo Box and what do you know!

This month, we got to choose products of our choice. All the products were ones sent in the previous subscription boxes. We also got to pick our choice of box and I chose the one with the “baby animals”.

Product 1 choices – range of Bella Voste Lipsticks, Bella Voste Lip Contour kit, Manna Kaddar Glo Illuminator, Bio Bloom Face Oil.
Product 2 choices – Votre night cream, Nature’s Co red wine gel, Elenblu mascara.
Product 3 choices – Mcaffeine face packs, Vedic line facial kit, Kronokare face spray, hair spray, Bio Bloom body mist.
Product 4 choices – Blossom Kochhar face scrub/ face wash
Product 5 choices – Bella voste nail polishes

Please note that different products keep getting added to the list of choices.

The products that I chose for this month:

v MCAFFEINE CHOCO CAFFEINE GLOW FACE PACK (for oily skin)

SAMPLE SIZED PRODUCT (25 gms)
PRICE – Rs. 359/-
We received this in our February, 2018 box. Bob has also reviewed the product in our post on Mcaffeine products. I haven’t used this product yet but I chose this as Bob used it and liked it. The product smells of cold coffee with chocolate drizzle :p. The face mask is clay based and contains Argan oil and Vitamin E.

v BIO BLOOM FACE OIL

FULL SIZED PRODUCT (15 ml)
PRICE – Rs. 1499/-
We received this in our January, 2018 box. was planning on purchasing a few essential oils and concocting my own mix for my face and then I saw this product and promptly chose it. I an almost done with my previous bottle and would definitely recommend this product. I have extremely oily skin and this face oil hasn’t caused any breakouts for me.

v VÔTRE NIGHT CREME

SAMPLE SIZED PRODUCT (30 gms)
PRICE – Rs. 1200/- for 30 gms
We received this in the May, 2018 box and this is the night cream that I am currently using. I apply this cream after the serum and before the Bio Bloom face oil and unlike a few other night creams, it doesn’t make your skin oily or feel heavy on your face.

v BLOSSOM KOCHHAR AROMA MAGIC COFFEE BEAN SCRUB

SAMPLE SIZED PRODUCT (20 ml)
We received this is in our June, 2018 box. I have enough face washes to last me a year and then also the Cetaphil face wash that just never seems to get over (!!!) So I opted for the face scrub. The product claims to revive, fight ageing and impart glow.

v BELLA VOSTE NAIL POLISH

SHADE – PERFECT PICK (13)
This is the only product I’m not pleased with and it’s my fault L . I had earlier chosen a maroon shade and after a few days I realised that I hadn’t booked the products from my personal account *eye roll*. So I had to choose products all over again. I had initially chosen the Manna Kaddar glo illuminator but that was out of stock and the Bio Bloom face oil was added to the list of choices. The shade of nail polish I had picked was out of stock and this was the only one available. The colour is very similar to the metallic nail polishes that I already have. :(

Whilst, we’ve enjoyed getting to pick products from earlier boxes and stock up our “resources”, I am hoping that GlamEgo sends us new / fresh products/brands that we haven’t received earlier. Some beauty tools perhaps. *fingers crossed*

GLAMEGO - JULY 2018

Products in the box!

Fun fact, ever since we started blogging we have stayed loyal to GlamEgo and written honest reviews about them and thanks to that a large chunk of our friends and other readers who read our blog have told us that they subscribed to the box after reading our reviews. We hope what we have to say now won’t disappoint our readers.

On 3rd of July last year I landed my very first subscription to the GlamEgo box thanks to Lulu, who got me the 6 month plan as a birthday gift😄. Once the subscription expired, I renewed it in January for 6 more months and then did so again on 1st of July. When we started out with the box, we used to get 4 products but since March of this year we have been getting 5 products. Of course the Bella Voste nail polish in the March box was supposed to be a ‘return gift’ as GlamEgo was celebrating its first anniversary. Then in the following months we got the Natural Bath and body – vital nourishment cream, Bella Voste Nail polish. Therefore when I saw the product list this month, I was slightly disappointed because we have once again received The Nature’s Co.’s Saffron day cream which we received in our February box. Hence I left a comment on GlamEgo’s official Instagram account asking them why we have been getting repeat products. GlameEgo direct messaged us to inform us that it was a complimentary product. For all lay persons let me elaborate on the word “complimentary”, it is an adjective which means something given or supplied free of charge. Here is the thing though – IT AIN’T FREE!

For those who have been subscribing to this box since last year will know that the subscription was priced at INR 1794. Now the subscription is priced at INR 1914. There was no mention of change in tariff!

The price change isn’t even an issue for me because I love the products we get in the box but I do have a problem with the box itself. I cringe every time I go through the product list and see gross spelling or grammatical mistakes. I wish GlamEgo would take time to proof read their captions, stories and cards.

The final issue that has bothered me in the past few months is how late my box has been arriving. The disappointment is immense when all the excitement is gone😞. I have also noticed a lot of people complaining about the same.

With that I end my rant because Lulu and I both received our box today! (We don’t stay disappointed and angry too long. 😎)

Here’s a glimpse of the box. This time around GlamEgo has collaborated with Zariya an organization that is reaching out to help women facing violence. Hence the box with the depth of the neck line and with each centimeter we see a tag associated with the depth. Necklines used to be the most discussed topic between Lulu and I and we were such ninnys back in college and through our mid 20’s that we wouldn’t even bother dressing up (even though we love doing that) unless we were accompanied by our parents! Yes, you read that right. We were little puppies who hid behind our parents except now if anybody passes a comment we know how to respond and if anybody stares I stare back at the woman’s cleavage or the man’s crotch. See, this trick has made people put their eyes down in shame and I haven’t caught them staring at me after this dose of staring contest.

Price and product details are mentioned in the Product List
As always we have the product list and a card with information about Zariya.

Price and product details are mentioned in the Product List

The products for this month are:

The Nature’s Co Red Wine Face Gel:

I love how it smells!!! I like products that smell so good that you want to taste it. This gel smells nothing like wine. This gel is to be applied before sleeping on the entire face in upward circular motions and left overnight for vibrant, moisturized and perfectly rested skin every morning. I am looking forward to using this product. Fun fact, GlamEgo continued last month’s trend of revealing the product to have people guess what brand it was. I was betting on Innisfree as I have eyed that for the longest time I even had their price list memorised😑.Hmmm… I wonder why GlamEgo didn’t continue revealing the products after this one. ✌

The Nature’s Co. Saffron Radiance Face cream:

I love Nature’s Co. products. In the February segment I had gone on to rant about how their signature square hard plastic bottles result in excess wasting of product. I have since checked their products to find that they are now in round pet jars!

The Saffron cream is amazing. This cream has a very mild smell and is perfect for all seasons. I like how just a little bit makes the face feel well moisturised. This jar is easy to carry around in your purse or when you travel.

SESA Mud Hair Spa Kit:

This spa kit helps nourish your hair, prevent hair fall and stimulates hair growth. The kit comes with a sachet of shampoo and hair serum each and two packs of hair masque. Now, I don’t really go to mess with my hair too much for fear of damage. Hence I am not sure how I feel about this product. I know I will end up using it. My love for experimenting has no limits. As I mentioned last time store bought hair products are way out of my comfort zone.

Valley of Flowers Body Mist by Bio Bloom:

This perfume smells like men’s perfume and that is not a bad thing. This product is paraben and alcohol free and can be used on all skin types. People sensitive to strong smells may want to stay away from it. This Orchid and Marigold combo won Amma over, who promptly took this product and handed back the Vert solid perfume from last month’s box back to me.

Elenblu High Volume Waterproof Mascara:

This is my second mascara. I first used mascara way back in 2009 straight out of college. I remember purchasing the one by Lakme and I remember that it didn’t make much difference to my lashes and hence I never went back to this product. Now that I have this mascara I tried it on and I love how nice just a single coat looks.

I don’t like making my lashes look too thick as they are already thick and using mascara only clumps them together and that’s why I have never been drawn to this product.

This mascara is light, dries quickly and doesn’t make the lashes too stiff.

Lulu though has a contrary opinion. Here’s her take on this product.

"I use the Benefit Roller Lash Mascara and every other mascara pales in comparison with it. However, that mascara is reserved for special occasions ONLY. Unlike Bob who has naturally thick lashes, my thin lashes needed two coats of the Elenblu Mascara and even that didn't do much for them. I do not like the shape of the Mascara Wand (traditional shaped bristle). The 'comb shaped' wand works best for my lashes. But I suppose, it would work well for daily wear as it doesn't give a dramatic effect to the lashes and washes off easily."

I am looking forward to the Wine Gel the most from this box and we will definitely write a product review after we have used it enough number of times 😄

GLAMEGO- MAY, 2018

I love the new magnetic boxes. They are sturdier and make great storage boxes and come with cute prints on it.
I keep telling everyone that I have too many lipsticks and that I don’t need more but I realised that I am always excited about getting a lipstick in the GlamegoBox. (though we’ve had quite an overdose of Bella Vosté)
As expected, Bob messaged me at 12.00 a.m on the 1st with the list of products for this month’s box and at 12.10; Bob and I were busy checking out the shades online. This time we got to choose a shade of our choice for the Bella Vosté Lipstick and the Bella Vosté Nail Polish.
This time we have cute baby animals on the box to commemorate Mother’s Day. The theme of this month’s box is the Beauty Emergency Kit. Though the products really wouldn’t fall under the category of “Beauty Emergency”, I would say that Glamego has redeemed itself after last month’s not so satisfactory Box. Also, the fact that a lot of people complained about delay in delivery of their Box last month including Bob who also ended up with a leaked Island Kiss Lip Balm.

(Price and product details are mentioned in the Product List)

The products for this month:

v BELLA VOSTÉ SATIN TOUCH LIPSTICK

FULL SIZED PRODUCT
SHADE: 20 (NUDE TEASE)
PRICE – Rs. 225/-

If at all I have a complaint with the Bella Vosté lipsticks, it is that the shade names very rarely match the true colour of the lipstick. The Nude Tease is actually a dusty pink. As the name suggests, it does give a smooth, satin finish. My lips were slightly dry before I applied it but post application they felt moisturised. The colour pay off, like in all the other Bella Vosté lipsticks, is excellent. I have two coats on in the picture. I loved this lipstick. (more so because I finally chose a shade that is not similar to the ones I already have and also it suits me) One con would be that the lipstick leaves a stain even after using a wet wipe, make-up remover and lip scrub. But for the price of the product, we can overlook that.

Bob has chosen the shade, Legendary, and we shall put up a picture of that once she gets her box.

v BELLA VOSTÉ NAIL POLISH

FULL SIZED PRODUCT
SHADE: 65 (ETERNAL DASH)
PRICE – Rs. 249/-

I chose this colour after seeing one of the YouTubers flaunting it and it looked lovely on her fingers. This is a matte nailpolish and dries within 5 seconds (yes! seconds) of application. I have applied two coats on my nails in the picture. The colour is somewhere between a dusty brown and lavender and that should explain my ‘not-so’ matching-matching picture.
When I told Bob this, she said it would be a good base for nail-art. (Bob and I are amateurs at nail art but if you would like us to share our nail art pictures with step-by-step instructions please leave us a comment below. Because if we can do it, so can you!)

And voila!

Bob has chosen the Shade No. 67 and shall share a picture of it upon receiving her Box.

v VÔTRE NIGHT CREAM

SAMPLE SIZED PRODUCT (30ml)
PRICE – Rs. 1550/- for 30 ml; Rs. 2350 for 50 ml
ALL SKIN TYPES

This product claims to be a multi vitamin and rejuvenating night cream that helps in moisturising and protecting the skin, increase cell renewal, assist the skin’s natural regeneration process and delay pre mature aging. (Now we all know which cream Wonder Woman uses!). This cream smells like a Brylcreem product and reminds me of the hair cream that my grandfather would use. I have used other products from Votre and liked them. We shall post a detailed review once we start using this product.

v ROHTO (ACNES) FACE WASH

FULL SIZED PRODUCT (50 g)
PRICE – Rs. 99/-

This is a new brand that is introduced this month. Bob also has it verified that it is indeed Japan’s No. 1 acne care brand and that this facewash is quite popular amongst the teenagers in Japan. This product claims to remove 99% of pimple-causing germs (0.9% lesser than the claims of our desi Advanced Lifebuoy- Lifebuoy hain jahan tandurusti hai wahan, laaifebuoooy) by controlling the skin heat and removing excess oil. We shall post a detailed review once we start using this product.

v SEER SECRETS LIP SCRUB

FULL SIZED PRODUCT (8 g)
PRICE – Rs. 261/-

This scrub has Rambutan, Dates and Liquorice and smells like the drink, Cosmopolitan. Like most lip scrubs, it is sweet. It claims to lighten lips and give plumpy-looking lips.  I used this once and it did a good job of smoothing my chapped lips. A must use before applying those drying liquid lipsticks.

I can’t pick a favourite this time. I loved the lipstick and the lip scrub and can’t wait to use the face wash and the night cream (which costs way more than the box itself!)

SHABLEM PLUS

Spots and blemishes ruining your selfie?  Filters not concealing that dark patch on your skin?

Worry not. Here’s the solution:

Eat healthy, exercise and drink lots of water to avoid that acne which ends up as that blemish.

Not doing enough of that? Here’s another solution:

Shahnaz Husain’s Shablem Plus

This cream was recommended to me by one of my friends in 2011. I bought it from a store on Commercial Street, Bangalore. The cream was hard and cakey and difficult to apply on the skin. I had to scrape it off with the back of my nail and then rub it hard onto my face. Though I did see it lightening the blemishes, I discontinued using it for some reason that I don’t recall now. The reason I mention the texture of the cream is because I saw a few complaints by users of this product in this regard.

A few months back I was looking to buy an anti-blemish cream when I decided to buy this cream again. I bought the cream from Amazon but I now see that it’s also available on Shahnaz Husain’s online store.

Original Price on Amazon- Rs. 773.00 currently being sold at the discounted rate of Rs.639.00
Price on Shahnaz Husain’s online store –Rs. 710.00
Quantity: 25 gm
Directions for use: Apply on scars and blemishes at night, rubbing it into the skin. Leave on overnight.
Claims: To provide a smooth and even colour tone, helps to minimize scars and blemishes like dark spots and patches, restoring the natural beauty of the skin.

This time round, the cream wasn’t hard and cakey at all. As you can see from the picture, the cream is very thick and slightly grainy.

I apply this cream, half an hour post application of the Biobloom- Face Radiance Oil.

The cream doesn’t melt and get absorbed into your skin. It leaves a whitish cast as seen on the back of my hand, making one look like Count Dracula minus the fangs. I apply it on the blemishes and around my lips where the skin is slightly patchy. I leave it on overnight and wake up, continuing to look like Dracula.

It is difficult to wash off this cream with just water or even face-wash/soap. You need to use a scrub to wash this cream off. I use a homemade scrub (currently using a mixture of orange peel powder and gram flour).

I’ve been using this cream for more than a month now and I do see the blemishes lightening. I apply this on fresh acne and also on the spot where I feel a bump coming up. I feel it ensures a quick eruption of the active volcano and prevents the dormant volcano from rising.

I am not sure as to why the product is marketed as a blemish cover cream as it clearly cannot be used as a concealer.

The cream has a strong medicinal smell.

In order for the product to work, it is important that you apply it daily.

25 gms may seem like very little product but I can assure you that this tub shall easily last for more 6 months as you need to apply it only on the problem areas and not the whole face. Considering the efficiency of the product, I would definitely re-purchase it and recommend it.

GLAMEGO - FEBRUARY 2018

The February Glamego box screams – “Valentine’s Day!!!” I was looking for a “sign” this month and there it was – right in front of my eyes – “I saw the sign!”

Here’s what we have in this month’s Glamego box.

I found the description 👆 list to be over the top and the grammar had me rolling my eyes👀

Nelf HD Hydrating Primer: This month we had the option of choosing one of the following: Perfume/Lipstick/Lip gloss/CC cream/Primer. I chose the primer because I haven’t used a primer thus far. After having checked online I picked this product as it is one that I don’t already have and also because of all the hype about the brand and positive reviews of the product.

Kronokare’s  Pollu-stop face: I have used face mist before and for the longest time I was under the impression that the mist was to be sprayed only after having used a face mask. I’m looking forward to using this, considering the fact that this year will require me to travel to all the highly polluted States of our country. This product couldn’t have come at a better time.

The Nature’s Co. Saffron Radiance Face cream: I love Nature’s Co. products. I first used their Vanilla face cream over two years ago and its only flaw was that ALL Nature’s Co products come in square edged bottles. That is their signature packaging. So you can’t “squeeze” out the leftover product and nor can you physically wipe the insides of the bottle clean. Have I mentioned that they come in bottles? Because you can’t even cut it open to use the leftover product. To pay over INR 1000 and have so much product go to waste is this brands ONLY drawback. Thankfully though, since these products are being made available in deluxe size, exclusively for Glamego boxes they come in tiny round pet jars.
This cream has a very mild smell and is perfect for summer which is just around the corner.
Side note: For those who have sensitive skin and don’t like heavy products try Nature’s Co. if you can splurge or use Olay which is my regular go-to moisturiser.

M{caffeine} Choco Caffeine Glow Face pack: This face mask smells EXACTLY as delicious as it sounds! I picked the one for oily skin. This is a clay based mask with argan oil and vitamin –e.

This is a product I’ve never tried before and all the products I have used from this brand were all thanks to the Glamego box which previously had the Shower gel (which I thoroughly enjoyed and will definitely be repurchasing) and neem face wash.

I love all the products in the box as I got something I haven’t ever used, product from a brand that I love and two products from brands that I was introduced to by Glamego and have come to like.

Are you happy with this month’s box? Let us know in your comments below.

Oh hey! Also, we are now on Facebook join us there. Your encouragement would mean a lot to us and do comment, people. We are opinionated and encourage opinions.
